The Match Seller

About the play

The play tells the story of an orphan girl who has lost her mother. She is not able to go back home as she has sold only one box of matches. So she decides to find shelter in an alley not far from where she lives. But the weather is extremely cold and it is snowing. she starts to light the matches one by one to get warm. she suffers the injustice of her uncle and the society at large. Unfortunately, she dies. Her grandmother comes to take her inside her house where there is no hunger and despair.
